2011 International Summer School

What is International Summer School?!

At the end of July 2011 Our Lady Queen of Peace held its first International Summer School.

The theme of the week was Flight and Aerodynamics. Learners from Spain, Mauritius and Our Lady’s were involved with the summer school where they learned the basics of flight and demonstrated vital skills to design, model, built and fly various types of aircraft from dart planes to a fully functioning remote controlled airplanes.

While on residential in Edge Hill University the three groups took part in a vast variety of evening activities and went on trips to fun and entertaining venues. During this time and in school the learners made new friends, and learned about each others cultures.

The week was a great success and a tremendous achievement for Mr Dunbar, Mr Seddon, Miss Yates, Mrs Byrom and all involved with organising, hosting and running the events. We would also like to thank Captain Matthew Atherton and his father Mr Atherton for their support leading up to the week and throughout the Summer School.

We hope that this is the first in many successful International Summer Schools being hosted at Our Lady Queen of Peace.

Below you can see a selection of photo’s taken throughout the week. Some photographs and updates were also posted to the schools twitter page (@olqpcec) during the week.

We look forward to 2012 when we hope to host our second International Summer School.
